Paul Zannucci--I don’t have any idea how this can’t be included under the Stupid Politician Tricks heading. Here she is in the political battle of her life, engaged in a seemingly hopeless conflict against an old and tired nomination process, and what does she come up with? An offer that Obama could be her Vice President, forming an “unstoppable” ticket.

In defense of Hillary, there really was no formal offer made, though the media has certainly given that impression. It was more of a waxing political. Nevertheless, she genuinely threw the idea out there, and she had to do it for some reason. I can think of only a couple, but the most likely is an attempt to soften up opposition to her amongst the youth and black voting blocks—the proverbial “cake and eat it” proposition. In a battle this close and, occasionally, this hostile, the tactic can hardly be expected to work. What she’s gotten instead is national derision. She’s the kid on the playground who’s losing the game and suggests that “we just end in a tie.” In coming up with this gem, she’s painted herself as the loser and a desperate one at that.
